National Salvation Army Week is May 14-21, 2017! We look forward to National Salvation Army Week as it reminds us of the founding of The Salvation Army by William Booth. He desired to win the poor, the homeless, the hungry, and the destitute of England to Christ, preaching hope and salvation. As of 2017, the ministry and services outreach of The Salvation Army has expanded across the world in 127 countries.
President Dwight D. Eisenhower proclaimed the first National Salvation Army Week in 1954, as a reminder to Americans to give freely of themselves to the cause of human brotherhood.
This year, we are honored to receive National Salvation Army Week proclamations from the Travis County Commissioners Court, presented on Tuesday, May 8, and from the Williamson County Commissioners Court on Tuesday, May 16.
On Tuesday, May 16, we invite you to a Behind The Red Shield Guided Tour and Lunch at the Downtown Shelter and Social Service Center. If you are interested, please RSVP to AustinDevelopment@uss.salvationarmy.org.
We are celebrating again this year with a bang, as we will be out at the Dell Diamond on Friday, May 19 for TSA Community Night and we invite you to join us. We are the Chasco Community Partner for the night, which includes Friday Fireworks!
