It’s National Volunteer Week! Our volunteers are the most valuable resource we have. We could not do the work we do in our community without their dedicated efforts.
“There is no reward equal to that of doing the most good to the most people in the most need.”
Our volunteers come from all walks of life, bringing many benefits to The Salvation Army, including:
Specialized skills and knowledge
A fresh perspective on our programs
Ability to amplify the work of our staff
Ability to provide an immediate connection to the community
Our goal is for our volunteers to know that they are truly making a difference in our community when they volunteer for The Salvation Army. These volunteer opportunities include not just working with staff and individuals in our various facilities but also supporting our fundraising events.
Hosting movie night or birthday parties for the kids at our shelters
Craft nights and other creative events at our shelters
And many more opportunities
Our dedicated team of volunteers play a key role in The Salvation Army’s goal to provide support and the very best social services to individuals and families in need. In 2016, more than 650 volunteers donated a total of 3,051 hours to Doing the Most Good in Travis and Williamson counties.
We cannot express in words how valuable our volunteers are to us and the people we serve.
