In a 2017 report, the population in Travis and Williamson counties was just over 1.7 million people. With the growth of our communities on the rise, there is a crisis of homelessness. The Salvation Army Austin is the largest provider of family shelter in Austin. We see this growth everyday with our shelters serving at 100% capacity. But the need is greater, with more than 250 women and children on the shelter call back waiting list every day. Your donations are needed more now than ever to give a hand up to these women and children and provide them with safe shelter, a warm bed and hope for their future.
The Salvation Army Austin is committed to caring for these families and helping to end the crisis of family homelessness in our community, but we need your help. We invite everyone in Austin and Williamson counties to donate ONE DOLLAR A WEEK or $52 dollars a year. If you are blessed with being able to provide more, we ask you to make a larger gift to help those that are simply not able to give. With your donation, YOU are helping families get back on their feet, providing a safe place for mom and her young children, and YOU are making a positive impact in your community.
2019 will be a monumental year for The Salvation Army in Travis and Williamson counties. We have several huge projects for our community like the brand-new 214 bed Salvation Army Rathgeber Center for Women and Children, scheduled to open this spring. With the addition of this shelter – along with programs and services that we have planned, it will cost just over $12 million dollars a year to provide a hand up to our neighbors in need. Your donation is extremely important.
Every dollar that is raised each year comes ONLY from LOCAL people and companies in Travis and Williamson counties.
