With the summer days passing by, back to school preparations will start again, but can you imagine not having the proper clothes or supplies to start school? That’s the case for more than 100 children living in our emergency shelters in Austin every day.

Would you like to help them get off to a good start to school? It’s easy to help!

The Salvation Army runs and operates two emergency shelters, serving more than 100 children of all ages, from birth through seniors in high school, on any given day.

“Our children often come to us with just the clothes on their back. Giving them new clothes and school supplies is an amazing way to start their school year off.”  says Donna Clendennen, Volunteer Coordinator at The Salvation Army of Austin.”

Thank you to Academy who will be providing necessary back to school clothing items for all of our children attending schools that require uniforms.

Thank you to the following businesses who have helped ensure that our kids have the school supplies and other items they need to get a great start on a new school year!

If your organization or company would like to do a drive, email VolunteerAustin@uss.salvationarmy.org  by August 1 or call 512-604-5910 for more information.

If you are not living in one of our shelters and need school supplies, we recommend that you contact your school (try the second week of August). They can either let you know if you qualify for school supplies or direct you to an organization that can help. Or call 2-1-1 for information about getting supplies for your children.
