Expected to Open Fall of 2019

The Salvation Army Rathgeber Center is a 212 bed shelter and will be a safe-haven for families in Travis and Williamson counties experiencing homelessness. On average, The Salvation Army has nearly 200 women and children on their wait list for shelter at the Austin Shelter for Women and Children. In 2018, The Salvation Army sheltered 1,938 men, women and children, and has provided more than 141,901 meals for individuals and families in Austin. The new shelter will increase the current budget by 5.2 million dollars a year to be fully operational. Funding is vital in order to fully staff and run all necessary programs at this brand-new shelter.

High Chair Image

ASID is asking for donations to purchase new high chairs for families staying at the Rathgeber Center. Each highchair (including shipping) costs $35 and will provide infants a place to sit at the dinner table.

Rathgeber Center Accent Painting 2019

ASID is asking for donations to assist with paying professional painters to add accents to the rooms at the Rathgeber Center.  These additional point colors will bring joy and hope during the temporary stay at the shelter.

Elephant Toy Bin Image

ASID is asking the community to make a donation to purchase TOY BINS  for each child as they enter the Rathgeber Center.  Each bin cost $25 and will provide a place for children to keep their toys in a space of their own.  Your donation today will pour security and hope into the life of a child in need.
