Rathgeber Center Challenge

The Rathgeber Center for Families opened in late February 2020. The dining hall, sports court, and playground were soon filled with laughing children and relieved parents. Although a global pandemic shifted priorities and definitions of “safe shelter,” families continue to thrive at The Center. All families are case managed and working on a path to self-sufficiency. Within the first year of opening and despite COVID-19, families are achieving an 80% rate of successful exit into housing and 75% of adults are increasing their financial status.

These families need your support to move from homelessness to housing. The work of our Salvation Army frontline staff is 24/7 as we help families onto a path of self-sufficiency. That path includes hot nutritious meals, engaging and socially distanced activities, access to computers for all residents, rent/utility assistance, and academic support for students, as well as a safe place to sleep each night.
