90's Country Stars Unite to Benefit The Salvation Army

Nov 17, 2022

On Sunday, November 6, we hosted our ninth annual Rock the Red Kettle concert at ACL Live to benefit The Salvation Army Austin. The night was an incredible trip back to the 90s, filled with delicious food, amazing country music, and lots of dancing. Our headliners for the night were Mark Chesnutt and Tracy Byrd, with a special performance by Zac Wilkerson. Our host, Cory Morrow, joined our headliners on stage as they sang and intimately shared with us the stories behind their greatest hits. We were happy to have once again partnered with The Cowboy Auctioneers for our live auction. There were amazing packages, including a trip to Italy, vacation in Turks & Caicos, and private catered dinner parties with live musical talent.

We had special guests in attendance at this year’s Rock the Red Kettle, The Salvation Army’s Texas Division Commanders, Lt. Colonels Penhale and Southern Territory Commanders, Commissioners Iglehart. It was an honor to have them at the event, together with our community and supporters in Austin.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we raised more than $800,000, which will be used to support our three emergency shelters for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Austin. During the event, we had the pleasure of hearing the Gatica family’s story. Their family of seven fell on hard times a few years back and with The Salvation Army’s support, got back on their feet. Now, the mother works at The Salvation Army shelter where they used to live. This was such a special story, and we are so grateful to the Gatica family for sharing it with us.

We want to give a huge thank you to all of our event sponsors and attendees for making the night such a success. We hope everyone had a great time and learned more about The Salvation Army Austin and the 24/7 work we do, right here in Central Texas. We’ll see you again next year!
