Client Spotlight - Camille Finds Hope
Life was going well for Camille, her husband, and their infant son, until suddenly, the family faced a crisis.
“Our lives were rearranged,” Camille recalls, “things were beyond our control.” Camille and her family lived with a relative for a time to try and adjust; however, they soon had to part ways. With no other options in sight, the family resorted to living out of their car or, at times, in a tent.
Camille distinctly remembers the moment she received the call from The Salvation Army’s Rathgeber Center for Families. “I was dealing with so much at the time,” explains Camille. “My family had been through so much, and we felt rejected and abandoned.” The shelter staff worked diligently to make Camille and her family feel welcome from the moment they arrived at the shelter, and throughout the time they stayed there. After spending a few months in shelter utilizing the guidance of case management and the resources provided in-shelter, the family overcame their barriers, got back on their feet, and transitioned to safe housing.
“Our future is already better because we had a chance to get things in order,” Camille expresses. “I thank you all for being a part of my family’s journey.” Her gratitude is a reflection of your kindness. Your generosity is a blessing for families who struggle in these difficult times. Thank you for giving families hope!
