Community Gathers to Celebrate Doing The Most Good
On Thursday, September 15, we held our annual Doing The Most Good Luncheon for the first time since May 2019. This luncheon (finally!) provided an opportunity for us at The Salvation Army Austin to gather together with our supporters, highlight the work we are doing in the community, and extend our gratitude to those who help make it all possible.
Guests enjoyed their lunch as we heard from Major Lewis R. Reckline, who gave an overview of our programs and services, including our three shelters in Travis County. We were able to recognize our 2020-2022 board chair, Randy Present, for all of his hard work and witness the passing of the gavel to our new chair, Jan Lehman. We also got a chance to thank the ladies of our Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary (SAWA) for their contributions. This past year’s SAWA president, Cathy Present, was honored as well as the first SAWA president, Thresa Nasi. Community partners Austin Couch Potatoes, Audacy Media, and Barshop & Oles were highlighted for their outstanding support and partnership with The Salvation Army Austin.
We hope everyone in attendance enjoyed themselves and learned more about the daily work we are doing in our community. Thank you to everyone who attended, The Junior League of Austin for volunteering, and Firewild Catering for the delicious lunch!
