Meet Anali Delgado - Shelter Director at ASWC
The Austin Shelter for Women and Children (ASWC) is a low barrier, housing-focused emergency shelter serving women and dependent children experiencing homelessness. In addition to a safe place to sleep and meals, critical resources such as case management, rapid rehousing services, employment assistance, a computer learning lab, child care, and child/family therapy are provided on-site. Last year, this facility served a total of 339 women and children. Eighty-three percent of those served exited shelter to safe housing.
Anali Delgado has worked at ASWC since 2016, and has served as Shelter Director since 2019. She initially got involved in the non-profit shelter space through an internship at a local shelter during her time in college. According to Anali Delgado, her favorite aspect of her job is serving her community every day. As someone who grew up in the neighborhood, Anali has a deep connection to the shelter and its mission. She explains, "Austin has changed so much, but more than 20 years later, ASWC is still here." When asked what sets ASWC apart from other shelters, Anali said, "ASWC has many long-tenured employees. We are a really strong team and have overcome many obstacles like a global pandemic and a few ice storms!" We are so appreciative of Anali and her continued dedication to meeting our clients needs.
